BattleTech is a turn-based multiplayer miniature war game which simulates combat between futuristic mechanized forces in the fictional BattleTech universe.
Like other typical miniature war games , the major chunk of gameplay consist of moving units across the map and deploying them to attack and take down the opposition .
A turn consists of four different phases; Initiative, Movement, Combat and End Phase. Initiative Phase is where both the players roll two D6 dice and the player with the lower result would begin their turn first. The second player would given an advantage as they would know their opponents moves and can counter them. Movement, Combat, End phase are just as what the names suggest, players move their troops, attack, calculate the damage dealt and end their turn. After the End phase, players return to the Initiative Phase, and the cycle begins anew until a player meets the victory condition, which is to destroy all the opposition’s army.
Hexagon shaped tiled, great looking miniatures, and awesome strategic gameplay options will definitely attract not just diehard fans of the BattleTech series, but will also please all other miniature war gamers/hobbyists. As for new miniature war gamers this would be an option for them as it’s simple to understand mechanics will definitely appeal and suit them more as compared to some other board games.
