I’ll have to hand this week off to my staff, since I’ve finally caught that wonderful flu bug going around this New Year period. Don’t bully them.
Of course, the Games @ PI team is not going to let something as small as the General Manager keeling over stop us from doing what we do. You know how it works.
GAMES. That’s what you’re here for.
BUT FIRST. TIME FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
We’re proud of our hobby area.
But with the fittings getting a bit long in the tooth, we figured it’s time for a revamp. Over the holidays, we rolled out new tables, chairs and tablecloths in the gaming area and a revamped paint bar with individual lighting as well, all designed to provide a better gaming experience in the store.
Because we believe the customer is worth it.

Whether you are a wargamer, board gamer or role player, we’re kicking off 2020 with a little something for everyone.
Okay. That’s a lie. If you’re a wargamer, it’s a big something. The Epic Battles expansion for Star Wars X-Wing see the return of warships and massed squadrons to the X-Wing table. Jumping in system with them are the C-ROC Cruiser for the Seperatist Alliance and Scum and Villainy and the CR90 Corellian Corvette for the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance while the Huge Ship Conversion Kit will allow you to bring CR90s Corellian Corvettes, C-ROC Cruisers, Gozanti-class Escort Carriers, GR-75 Medium Transports and Raider-class Corvettes to your next Epic engagement.
We’re not neglecting the roleplayers of course. In addition to the steady stream of Dungeons & Dragons book restocks, there’s a couple of new publications for those looking to branch out.
Expand your Genesys experience with the Expanded Player’s Guide, a book chock full of setting info, spells and talents and gaming customization goodness.
Or if you’re looking to try out a new system, consider giving the all new edition of Savage Worlds a spin. Whether you’re a fresh rookie or a jaded veteran, the World Builder & Game Master’s Guide is chock full of system agnostic advice to get you started and to keep your table running smoothly. If that isn’t enough to get the creative juices flowing, the GM Screen and Mini Setting Book is the perfect companion with four new RPG settings and adventures to get your campaign going. Hoo boy. Onto the board game front.
Along with a restock of the beloved Lanterns: The Harvest Festival comes Lanterns Dice: Lights in the Sky, a fast playing spiritual sequel to the original Lanterns that sees players racing to snatch up floating lanterns and launch hanabi in patterns designed to impress the Emperor.
Next up is Smash Up: Culture Shock, which sees FIVE new faces lurch into the ever expanding quest to smash bases – Russian folklore, African legends, Germanic tales, Incan history and Polynesian culture.
The oddball Quirky Circuits follows this, a team co-op where players must collaborate to lock in programming orders to a series of robot buddies to fulfill a series of tasks before their batteries run dry. With players locking in commands independently of each other, will it be smooth sailing or automated mayhem?
And if it is all going to end in chaos, Aftermath asks what happens next. Lead a band of misfit critters like a fast talking hamster, a mouse sniper and a guinea pig with anger management issues in this new Adventure Book Game as they struggle to scavenge and survive in the ruins of a post-human society.
If all this is too much, how about a trip to Hokkaido instead? Draft cards and build your personal map to maximize the development of your townships, but beware Hokkaido’s rugged mountainous landscape and the developmental difficulties which come with planning around a massive mountain range.
