Hey PI-Fans,
Big news for the role-players amongst you looking to get your Dungeons & Dragons campaign on the road.
The D&D Big Three books have touched down, meaning you can now get your 2024 and 2025 revised printings for the Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide and Monster Manual at PI Games.
We’ve also come into a supply for the special Alternate Art covers for the DMG and MM as well, so if you want a copy let us know. (Don’t ask about the PHB – that’s still unobtanium). Likewise if you need assorted knicknacks to round out your campaign like monster tokens, dry-erase map boards, DM Screens and dice, we’ll do what we can to get you sorted as well.
This isn’t to say that all we have is RPGs though. We’re a board game store. People call us a board game store. Except for the people calling us to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2. We can’t help with that unfortunately.
So on to the board and card game front.
Landing in our hands this week is the Anniversary edition of a personal favorite – Patchwork. Patchwork 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates 10 years of the Uwe Rosenberg classic. Drifting in alongside it is the subtle Open by Japanese designer Takashi Saito, a partial information trick-taking card game where players get to see some, but not all of each player’s hand and can rack up some hefty wins by wagering on the outcome of each hand of cards. Shaking up gameplay as well is the Diamond Edition of Unstable Unicorns. Unstable Unicorns Diamond adds shiny new Diamond Unicorns with powerful game effects printed on Holographic Foil cards to shake up gameplay (though these Diamond Unicorns) are prone to wandering off at the roll of a Diamond dice.

OPEN is a climbing and card shedding game in which each person plays each hand with the majority of their cards visible to the other players, forcing some tricky choices and ambushes from the remaining hidden cards as they race to dispose of all their cards in hand.
During each road of OPEN, each player is dealt six cards, of which four will be placed face up on the table and visible to the other players. At the start of each hand, players make a secret bet on which player they think will play all of their cards first. Points are awarded to all players but the last to go out. Points are also awarded to players who accurately predicted who would go out first.
This unique combination of hidden information and betting make OPEN an amazing game for people looking for a simple card game with a twist.
